- Duration of Course: Four Years (Eight Semesters)Direct Entry or Three Years (Six semesters) for Lateral Entry
- Objective & Scope: This course train individuals to become a good manufacturing Chemist or Pharmaceutical technologist or Pharmacist/ Ayurvedic Pharmacy Officer.
- Degree Offered: After successful completion of course, B. pharmacy (Ayurveda) degree will be awarded.
I. Location:
College of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences is situated at Joginder Nagar Distt. Mandi, on NH-154 near Shanan Hydro Electric Powerhouse adjoining to the campus of Govt. Ayurvedic Pharmacy Joginder Nagar Distt. Mandi H.P. The nearest Railway Station is Joginder Nagar (JNR) which is at a distance of 2 km only. The surroundings of the Institute are beautiful, well suited for teaching & training activities. The surrounding hills are rich in natural flora including many important medicinal plants. The College has a well-equipped State Ayurvedic Pharmacy attached to it for practical training of students.
II. Aims & Objectives:
The course has been planned in such a manner that personnel completing it should be capable of meeting different requirements of both manufacturing and consuming sector from Ayurvedic drugs. For the manufacturing sector he should be able to take care of drug selection, standardization, quality control and manufacturing requirements. For the consumer sector he should be a qualified person for drug dispensing and related activities.
Since they expect to provide service of international standards, it is imperative that they should have sound knowledge of Ayurvedic drug manufacturing techniques.
The main aim of this course is neither to produce graduates who can be Ayurvedic Physician nor experts for manufacturing Allopathic drugs but to produce high quality technologists who have capacity of producing high quality, Ayurvedic drugs by employing traditional, modern, or upgraded or modified tradition techniques and to control and maintain their quality.
At present, there are approximately ten thousand pharmaceutical units producing Ayurvedic medicines in India. These meet the domestic and global requirements. The proposed course is expected to produce individuals with abilities to identify, collect and process the materials required to produce standard and efficacious drugs. The Graduates will be capable of incorporating modern advanced technology in the manufacturing process. They will also be conversant with modern drug manufacturing techniques.
- To identify, collect and process raw materials used in Ayurvedic drugs.
- To equip with Medicinal properties of various raw drugs used in Ayurvedic drugs.
- To make them skilled in dispensing and manufacturing quality Ayurvedic drugs.
- To actively participate in the manufacturing of Ayurvedic formulations.
- To be conversant with modern drug manufacturing techniques.
- To control and maintain the quality and standard of the Ayurvedic drugs.
- To be conversant with modern drug presentation techniques.
To be conversant with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other regulations and laws associated with the manufacturing, storage, sale, and quality control of Ayurvedic drugs.

College of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical sciences Joginder Nagar was established as an add-on institution of Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Post Graduate Ayurvedic College Paprola at Joginder Nagar in the year 2010 with the grant in aid received from Govt. of India, Deptt of Ayush.
It is four year degree course comprising 8 semesters and the basic qualification for admission is 10+2 PCB/PCM. The mode of admission is entrance test conducted by Atal Medical Research University Ner Chowk Mandi Himachal Pradesh, in the previous batches from 2012 to 2021 it was affiliated with Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur. Our One batch is still running under Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur. The College is however in state of infancy but it is progressing well with the assistance of the State Govt.
The present strength of students in the college is 134 and the students are from different parts of the state and even from outside from the state. From the year 2022-23 College is now affiliated to Atal Medical Research University, Ner Chowk, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh,
After its establishment in the year 2010 eight batches of approximately thirty students in each batch have passed out their degree from this college i.e. B. Pharmacy Ayurveda. Now the college has capacity of 40 numbers of students in each batch.
Among these pass out Pharmacy graduates, 40% students selected as Ayurvedic Pharmacy Officers in State Govt. services and some of them has joined private Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Houses at different places within and outside the state of Himachal Pradesh, a few are pursuing their Post Graduation degree i.e. M. Pharmacy in Ayurveda.
This College is being run by ‘Society for Ayurvedic Pharmacy Education and Training’. Director AYUSH HP is the Member Secretary, and Secretary AYUSH is the Chairperson of the Society besides various other members.
